With an aim to motivate and empower female athletes, NBC has been sponsoring the Sarreyat Ramallah (First Ramallah Group) women’s football team since 2010. This represents part of our commitment to empower women in Palestine and fulfilling our social responsibility towards youth with regard to sports in our country.
In a context in which Palestinian youth lack the resources needed for sporting activities, NBC has taken the lead. Putting into practice our vision to contribute to building active, healthy communities, we have provided financial support, in partnership with the Orthodox Club, to enable Palestine’s first grassroots basketball training school to be established.
NBC launched the Ripple of Happiness program at Palestinian universities. This program is a youth empowerment initiative that trains university students to identify opportunities in their communities and motivates them to implement projects that will have a positive impact within their communities.
NBC sponsored the Environmentally Friendly Schools Initiative in cooperation with the Nablus and Ramallah municipalities. The primary aim of this project is to develop students’ environmental awareness, understanding of how to utilize natural resources wisely and support for environmental initiatives.
In Yearly bases Coca-Cola Foundation is offering scholarships to nine Palestinian students to attend Bilkent University in Turkey, promoting international education and opening doors for outstanding Palestinian youth to be exposed to international standards in higher education. NBC works in cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations in Gaza and the West Bank and the creative initiative Injaz Palestine to provide Palestinian youth with good international educational opportunities. This scholarship represents an important component of this project. By 2013, more than 25 students from different Palestinian universities have taken advantage of this scholarship.
NBC equipped a hall to be used for promotions for the Palestinian Standards Institute, which oversees national production and promotes a culture of excellence throughout the country in the manufacturing and services sectors. The aim is to use the space for activities to acquaint the public with the work of the Institute and raise the awareness of Palestinian consumers around the importance of quality in production.
At the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy we are committed to the principle of achieving better health for everyone. To promote this, we sponsored a walkathon in Ramallah in 2006 dedicated to encouraging and promoting a healthier life. Arwa water was the official drink of the event.
On Palestinian Children’s Day, NBC sponsored activities at the week-long Children’s Festival in Nablus and the Palestinian Festival of Childhood and Education in Gaza, along with events organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Bethlehem, the Children’s Center for Culture and Development, Tamer Institute for Community Education and the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, by typing leaflets and providing accommodatio
NBC sponsored the "Boyoutna Helwi wi Bitaamar" Campaign, in which 104 sets of paint were distributed to fifth grade students in Gaza Strip and the West Bank to facilitate their participation in the competition, which was launched last March. During this competition, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education collected the creative works of all participants.
NBC sponsored an exhibition by Palestinian photographer Osama Al Selwady titled Ard wa Wared (Land and Roses) which featured the natural environment in Palestine. NBC’s support was aimed at developing skills among the youth and expressing the company’s concern for the environment.
NBC has participated in a number of campaigns to raise support for local products. In addition to its participation in an exhibition featuring locally produced foods, NBC has provided incentives and contributed to a number of activities, such as the campaigns to support local products organized at Palestinian universities.
At NBC we pay particular attention to our employees, who represent the broader Palestinian society. As part of our commitment to social responsibility, NBC employees have participated in selecting which social issues need the most urgent support. NBC takes every opportunity to demonstrate its care and appreciation towards its employees, which are its most valuable asset.
In 2001, the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy signed an agreement to sponsor the Palestinian national team with the Palestinian Football Federation, with the aim of developing Palestinian sport in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and qualifying it for competition globally. NBC was the official sponsor of the Palestinian national team, which participated in the World Cup qualifiers held in Korea and Japan in 2002.
NBC is an enthusiastic supporter of the Sports Cadets Year project organized by the Palestinian Ministry of Youth and Sport. The project aims at developing the sporting ability of young girls and boys, as well as providing them with opportunities to channel their emotions and energies into positive activities which support their own well-being and the good of the society.
Inspired by the Sports Cadets Year project, NBC has put its support behind a football training center for girls that has opened in Bethlehem and a tennis center for girls that has opened in Nablus. These initiatives provide support to girls interested in sports and provide opportunities to develop their skills.
NBC conducted a campaign to promote Palestinian products titled "From the Heart of Palestine" in coordination with other companies from the public and private sectors. The campaign, which used the slogan "let's make the heart of Palestine beat", aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of supporting high quality Palestinian products and attempting to influence views in this regard.
Motivated by its concern for children and its commitment to causes concerning children, NBC has offered fieldtrips to children of different ages to invite them to take a closer look at our operations and build relationships with our staff. Hundreds of fieldtrips have been organized, during which the bottling processes were demonstrated and children were shown how high standards are maintained and energy conserved in the environment and operations of the plant. The fieldtrips teach children about making a valuable contribution to their society economically and caring for the environment, as well as the importance of investing in human resources in order to protect the jobs of the hundreds of Palestinian NBC workers who have employment despite the adverse conditions under which Palestinians live.
NBC provided support to the Hakawi Zghar project in cooperation with the Safar Lil Fonoun team. Hakawi Zghar was broadcast on local television networks and could be viewed by children in any area of Palestine. The program encourages children to participate in story telling activities and act out the stories with the storyteller, while emphasizing active thinking, interaction and participation.
