National Beverage Company provides the Joint Services Council in Jericho with boxes for plastic containers’ collection




 

 

 

The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) provided support to the Joint Services Council for Solid Waste Management in the city of Jericho, by supplying more than 20 boxes for plastic containers collection for recycling,  This new support came as part of the Sorting of Plastic and Metal Containers Project, through which the collected plastic containers are sent to the sorting area designated at the waste dump in the city of Jericho; then they are recycled according to landfill procedures.

 

Commenting on the project, Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC), said, "Our partnership with the Joint Services Council for Solid Waste Management in this project comes out of our societal responsibility commitment towards preserving the Palestinian environment, and in line with our vision to achieve a green environment devoid of pollution, waste and pollutants. Our contribution to providing boxes for the collection plastic containers will contribute in reducing plastic (packaging) waste in the Palestinian environment in the city of Jericho in particular, especially as it is one of the pollutants that are very dangerous to the environment.”

Mr. al-Hindi added, "Because we deserve to live in a clean environment free of pollutants; NBC has endeavored, since its inception, to focus on devoting environmental culture and applying the highest international and local quality standards,  NBC has complied with its commitment to applying the highest environmental standards within the Company's factories."  He indicated that the project would contribute a lot in terms of improving environmental conditions in Jericho and promoting the culture of waste sorting and recycling in order to reduce the quantities of plastic waste.

 

On his part, the Director of the Joint Services Council for Solid Waste Management in Jericho, Mr. Muhammad Is’ayyed, praised the role of NBC and commended its contribution to the implementation of such important project. Mr. Is’ayyed said, "We value this cooperation that brought us together with the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy, and through which we hope that this will be a beginning for promoting sustainability standards, preserving the Palestinian environment, and raising public awareness about the importance of waste reduction, sorting, collection and recycling.”

 

It is noteworthy that the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy has won numerous international and local certificates and awards in the field of environmental safety.  It has also passed the challenge of the Best Ten at the level of Coca-Cola companies in the region, in terms of energy savings, in addition to choosing the Coca-Cola factory as the best factory implementing environmental systems.
