The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy took action, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, to provide the required equipment for the welding and metal forming vocational workshop in Hebron Industrial Secondary School.  The workshop was equipped with all the basic needs, supplies and tools required for its operation, so that the students can obtain an integrated vocational education.

In this context, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Nafie Assaf, stressed the significance of the role of the private sector in supporting the educational sector.  He praised the efforts of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy and its constant endeavor to support the education sector in general and vocational education in particular.  He added that, “Our needs for an integrated and equipped educational environment in the vocational education sector has become an urgent need, especially after the increased turnout of students to this type of education, being in line with the Ministry's policy to develop the vocational education sector and develop its programs, since the Ministry believes that vocational and technical education and training is one of the most important foundations for sustainable development, and an effective solution to reduce unemployment rates among graduates due to its role in creating job opportunities.

He added that the Ministry has worked to establish new vocational schools and develop vocational units in academic schools to provide greater opportunities for the students in Palestine to enroll in vocational education, which has witnessed increasing demand in recent years as a result of the Ministry's policy of introducing programs to integrate vocational education with general education in the basic education stage to promote vocational trend among children of Palestine, and promote enrollment in the various specializations of this education, which opens horizons for the students of such specializations to join the labor market.

The Ministry of Education indicated that the provision of such equipment demonstrates the endeavor that the Ministry attaches to vocational education in all regions, in emphasis of its interest in supporting vocational specializations and encouraging their demand, as they are considered a main base for the elements of sustainable development, and reflect the trend of the Palestinian government in this regard.

On his part, Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy, said, "Our provision of equipment for the workshop at Hebron Industrial School comes in line with our vision and our endeavor to support the educational sector and enhance the educational environment, namely vocational education sector, particularly since it has become very popular among the students." He added, "Through our contributions to operating professional workshops, we look forward to preparing qualified students who are ready to access the labor market, which is in dire need of professional specializations, by refining their skills and providing them with specialized training programs."

Mr. al-Hindi pointed out that "the workshop of the Hebron Industrial School is one of the vocational workshops that we have initiated to equip during the past years, as we, at the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy, are keen to prepare one vocational workshop on annual basis in the various governorates of Palestine within the priorities of the Ministry of Education, in order to contribute to encouraging student enrollment in vocational education, and provide a complete and stimulating learning environment.

Mr. al-Hindi explained that vocational education is witnessing an increasing demand as a result of the Ministry's policy of introducing a program to integrate vocational education with the general education in the basic education stage to enhance vocational orientation of students.  This objective requires the provision of more support for this type of education, especially since vocational specializations are the most advantaged in the labor market, and among the specializations on demand, which in turn contributes to reducing the problem of unemployment among the youth sector and increasing the effective workforce in the Palestinian market.

It is noteworthy that the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy is keen to include the provision of equipment to vocational workshops in its annual agenda.  NBC has initiated to equip a number of workshops in a number of schools in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in various vocational disciplines.
