The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) supported the Dabke Team of Collège des Frères Beit Hanina, Jerusalem by providing Dabke apparel to preserve and promote the Palestinian identity and heritage and pass it on to the next generations.
Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of NBC, said: “NBC supports the Dabke team of Collège des Frères Beit Hanina as part of its duty as a national company to help preserving the Palestinian heritage and folklore and the Palestinian identity, especially that Dabke is considered a folkloric dance closely associated with the identity and history of the Palestinian people across the centuries, which makes it our duty to preserve it and pass it on to the future generations”.
Mr. al-Hindi commended the Collège des Frères Beit Hanina’s efforts and pursuits to promote and cultivate the Palestinian heritage among the new generations by qualifying many students every year to perform this important type of performance art. He pointed out that NBC always strives to support the activities and initiatives that target the cultural development of the school students.
Mr. George Naber, Principal of Collège des Frères Beit Hanina thanked NBC for supporting the team, and he noted that this support is essential to encourage the team to continue training and attain excellent levels. He pointed out that for many decades, the Collège des Frères Beit Hanina has always been interested to teach the students to perform the Dabke dance, among other arts, as the school worked on setting up a school to teach the Dabke dance 12 years ago, and this school qualifies around 200 students every year to perform the Dabke folkloric dance.
Since its inception, NBC has always been interested in reinforcing the cultural and art sector, and it supports many art and music institutions, such as Al Kamandjat foundation, Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, Yabous Cultural Centre, among others. NBC also sponsored many art, cultural, and cinema festivals, and purposeful plays which have a role in highlighting the meaningful Palestinian heritage and art.
