On the Occasion of Eid Al-Adha, National Beverage Company and Raya Distribute “Eid Gifts” for Orphan, Sick, and Autistic Children


Ramallah and Al-Bireh – Al-Hayat Economic - The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) launched the “Eid Gifts” campaign on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. The campaign included visiting a number of orphanages, hospitals for children with cancer, and centers of autistic children and giving away of 400 gifts over the children throughout Eid al-Adha across several governorates.


The gifts were given away in cooperation with Jasmine Charitable Society and Rawan Association at Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate, the Charitable Society in Hebron, SOS Children's Village, the Holy Family Children Home at Bethlehem, and children with cancer at Rafidia hospital at Nablus. The persons in charge of the campaign were keen to select appropriate toys to encourage the children to interact such as audio and light toys and other interactive toys.


Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of NBC, confirmed that NBC is dedicated to support “Eid Gifts” campaign to spread the mood of feast and joy and to contribute in making the sick and orphaned children and children with special needs happy in order to get in the mood for the feast to alleviate their suffering and to boost their morale. He added that NBC is devoted to support such initiatives which target the orphaned and sick children and children with special needs who are in dire need of help, catering, and assistance to be able to fight the diseas or the surrounding dire conditions and then to be able to merge with the society and interact with their peers and different groups of the society.
Mr. al-Hindi pointed out that since its inception, and throughout its 20-year journey, NBC has always supported this group of children. He emphasized the importance of intensifying the efforts and partnership among all sectors to provide the appropriate environment for the children to be able to overcome the challenges and move on in order to become partners in building and creativity so that they grow up to become athletes, scientists, and writers.


Mr. al-Hindi said he is proud of the partnership with Raya for the second time as NBC supported “Farah” events which targeted 400 orphaned children and children with special needs in cooperation with a number of community and charity organizations in 2016. He indicated that such partnership is a role model to support the marginalized groups.


In turn, Bassam Walweel, Chief Executive Officer of Raya Media & Publishing Co. said that Raya is dedicated to present a model of development media which supports the groups of the society by implementing charitable and community initiatives to affirm that the mission of media is not only airing and transmission of news, but also taking part in the development process and supporting our local community, especially the marginalized groups, children with special needs, and orphaned children.


Walweel added that the “media institution performs an integrated role with all the government, private, and nongovernmental institutions, especially that it proved that it understands the concerns of the marginalized groups and it has the abilities and resources to sense the suffering of such groups, hence, Raya believes that we must participate in supporting the marginalized groups, especially the sick and orphaned children and children with special needs, in order to contribute in alleviating their suffering”. 


Walweel commended the role of NBC in continued support and contribution to the society, as NBC always takes the initiative to support the less-privileged children and youth and various marginalized groups. He called for further cooperation across all the institutions and sectors of the society toward meeting the needs of the orphaned children and children with special needs.
