National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy Grants Financial and In-Kind Aid to the Social Rehabilitation Association in Qalandia Camp




Ramallah – The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) granted a donation to the Social Rehabilitation Association in Qalandia Camp. NBC handed over to the management of the Association aiding devices and equipment to help persons with special needs, in addition to funding the restoration of the outer yard. The restoration of the yard was started in order to make it more suitable for the various activities of the Association aiming at integrating persons with disabilities in the society.
 
Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of NBC, commended the Social Rehabilitation Association in Qalandia for the services they provide to the persons with special needs in Qalandia Camp in spite of the limited resources. He stressed NBC’s interest in supporting the efforts of the Association in order to be able to help this segment of the society, to support their parents and families and to alleviate their suffering. He also stressed the importance of supporting such associations concerned in persons with special needs by all institutions, especially in villages, camps and marginalized areas in all governorates.
 
Mr. al-Hindi added that NBC management hopes, in partnership with all related parties, that persons with physical and mental disabilities receive more care in order to integrate this segment in the local community and rehabilitate more persons with special needs to be effective in their communities by providing all supporting potentials in order to develop their capacities and discover their strengths, especially that this segment used to have many innovative and creative persons, whether males or females. Such persons are able to produce and interact with their community and to challenge the community or economic circumstances. He stressed that through such contributions, NBC seeks to instill hope in persons with special needs and to motivate their desire to participate and interact with their local community.
 
On his part, Nasser Sajdeyyeh, Manager of the Association, expressed the gratitude of the management for NBC’s initiative and for donation of aiding devices, restoration and rehabilitation of the outer yard for the benefit of the Association’s members. He added that NBC’s initiative represented a precedent at the level of private sector companies as NBC management sought to find the rehabilitation associations and centers without waiting the Social Rehabilitation Association in Qalandia to request support, which requires continued support to meet its necessary needs.
 
Sajdeyyeh added that the Social Rehabilitation Association provides services in Qalandia Camp and its surroundings. The Association is committed to activate several programs, most importantly are: special education program for persons with mental and physical disabilities, aiding devices program for persons with disabilities which serves a large category of the camp population, especially the youth and elderly, as well as guidance programs for children with disabilities and their parents.
