Ramallah – Al-Ayyam - The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) and the Ministry of Education & Higher Education announced that the tenth phase of the annual “Lana Al-Ghad” project to introduce computing curriculum into schools was concluded. As part of the phase activities, three schools in the directorates of Qabatiya, Yatta and Salfeet received 50 tables each, amounting to 150 tablets. The schools that were provided with the tablets were Dirar Ibn Al-Azwar Boy’s Elementary School of Yatta, Martyr Mazen Abu Al-Wafa Elementary School in Salfeet and Ahmed Yassin Boy’s Elementary School in Qabatiya.

In this context, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education Dr. Sabri Saleh confirmed that the project came as part of an interactive partnership with NBC, and in support of the educational process through improving its activities. Saleh also explained that the project was in line with the developmental approach of the ministry, especially in digitalizing the general educational process. Such process is deemed as the most prominent educational programme the ministry had launched. Leading officials at the field of education gives huge attention to this process. The undersecretary expressed pride in the partnership between both organizations, calling for boosting such approach owing to its role in establishing partnerships with private sector bodies and expanding its role in the educational file.

The Ministry pays higher attention at present to employ technology in the educational field in order to remain up to date with the changes around the globe, Saleh highlighted. He also asserted that the ministry’s cooperative role, on the national and international levels, helped to provide technological programmes and projects to achieve those goals.

NBC’s General Manager, Mr. Imad Al-Hindi emphasized that the project of “Lana Al-Ghad” aimed at accommodating schools with digital devices to keep up with international technological educational progress. Such change happens by digitalizing the educational process and participation and involvement of the students, away from traditional educational means.

The Company believed in taking part in advancing the educational process and serving students, especially in remote areas, as part of its responsibility towards the community, Al-Hindi added.  He also asserted the Company’s pride in its effective partnership with the Ministry. He also commended the latter’s role – and the role of the Ministry’s departments – in creating a generation of awareness and proficiency in keeping up with the scientific advancements, especially through its cooperation in this initiative.

It is worth mentioning that the project, which was part of this initiative, was launched since 2007 in the form of a partnership between the Ministry and NBC.  Over the past years, the project included the distribution of 335 computers and 468 tablets to scoresof schools.  39 school computer labs were also equipped at schools affiliated with the Education Directorates of the West Bank.
