Funded by Coca Cola Foundation National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy and INJAZ Palestine Launch the 10th Season of Ripples of Happiness Program




Ramallah-The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) and INJAZ Palestine Foundation launched the 10th season of Ripples of Happiness (Waves of Joy) Training Program which is organized every year and funded by Coca-Cola Foundation. The Program aims at enabling the students of the Palestinian universities and institutes to implement pilot projects that contribute to positively affect the path of community development.
 
Five Palestinian universities from various governorates take part in the 10th season; namely Birzeit University, An-Najah National University, Hebron University, Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, and University College of Applied Sciences, in addition to other six student teams from the Saudi Arabia.
 
By the end of the Program, the first three winners of the participating teams will have the opportunity to receive various cash grants from Coca-Cola Foundation to be used in funding and expanding the students’ projects.
The Program includes multiple phases through which the volunteers from the private sector provide the participating students with the knowledge to enable them to apply and practice what they have learned on the benches through interaction and effective engagement in their communities.
 
Mahmoud Sinokrot, from Premium Consulting Co. - Hebron, Manar Zitawi from Jawwal Co.-Ramallah, Amal Al-Shaka’a, from Al-Shaka’a Pharmaceuticals Warehouse- Nablus, Sherin El-Deek, from Kul AL Nass Advertising Agency- Tulkarm, and Halima Abdel Aziz, from Kirdash Co.- Gaza supervise the training of the participating teams.
 
The goals of the Program focus on developing the principles of belonging and community responsibility of the students and providing them with entrepreneurial skills, financial culture, and readiness to work by providing them with the opportunity to discover their individual and professional interests and the available job opportunities as well as familiarizing them with the key principles of readiness to work.
 
Regarding the launch of the 10th season of Ripples of Happiness Program, Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of NBC, asserted that NBC is proud to continue the Program which attained consecutive achievements throughout the past years, in cooperation with INJAZ Al-ARAB Foundation and INJAZ Palestine. He indicated that the steady excellence of the Palestinian students at the regional level across the previous seasons and obtaining the first positions; motivated NBC to continue supporting their pilot projects and promoting more university students to participate in the Program and compete with their peers in the Saudi universities. He affirmed that the Palestinian youth can defy the challenging circumstances and hardships and come out with the greatest achievements.

Mr. al-Hindi added: “the youth and education sectors in Palestine are top priorities in the NBC as the youth is the group we count on to assume the responsibility of community development, building a better future for generations to come, and opening up to the creative solutions to face the challenges. Further, Ripples of Happiness Program contributes to developing the skilling of young students and enables them to join the labour market or effectively participate in providing a better life for their Palestinian society.”
 
On her part, Ms. Randa Ramahy Salama, General Manager of INJAZ Palestine, valued the fruitful and ongoing partnership with NBC. She said: “Our strategic partnership with NBC enabled us to reach a bigger group of university students in most of the governorates since 2012.”
 
She added: “during this academic semester we will launch the 10th season of Ripples of Happiness Program in collaboration with INJAZ Al-ARAB Foundation and Coca-Cola Foundation; whereas new universities and bigger groups of students of various disciplinary participate in the Program every season. Every year we are surprised with meaningful and excellent community projects that seek to handle the deficiencies in the surrounding community and boost the concept of social responsibility of the students.”
 
Ms. Salamah thanked NBC, represented in Mr. Imad al-Hindi, for their ongoing support for INJAZ Foundation in general and the Program in particular, out of their belief of the importance of engaging the youth in making a change in the community, and enhancing and advancing their skills in order to ensure a better future for them.
 
Ahmed Abu Romy, a student at the Modern University College who participated in the 9th season of Ripples of Happiness, asserted that he learned from the Program. “Ripples of Happiness” helped me to enhance handling of the reality and recognize how to deal with the target group. At the personal level, the experience helped me to develop my personality to attain long-term goals in life and expand my future outlook as well as increase my psychological satisfaction because I delivered community work to a group in need and the Program contributed to improving the teamwork spirit for me and my colleagues and to believe that we are capable of making a change in the society through simple ideas”, said Ahmed Abu Romy.

 

The students of Palestine Polytechnic University came in the second place in the previous season for their project “Stay Young” which aimed at promoting sports and provision of gymnastic machines in the public parks. The students of Modern University College came in the third place for their project “Waves of Goodness for the others” which aimed at mainstreaming the people with special needs in the society and advancing their skills.
