Supported by National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy,

The Consumer Protection Coalition launches a “Support Your Homeland and Buy the National Products” Campaign

Ramallah- Al Ayyam: With the support of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC), the Coalition of Consumer Protection Association launched a campaign on Facebook to support the national products by creating a page named “Support your Homeland and Buy the National Products”.

This page aims at promoting the high quality of the Palestinian products as a competitive advantage.

The concept of the campaign is based on promoting the buying of the Palestinian products not only because they are made in Palestine, but also due to its high quality and compatibility with the standard specifications and the mandatory technical instructions.

This page is designed to introduce and promote the vision of encouraging high quality Palestinian products.  It is also intended to create more employment opportunities, contribute to the growth of the Palestinian economy and commitment to social responsibility, as well as to raise the consumers’ awareness of their rights and encourage them to rationalize consumption to reduce prices and combat any form of price increase.

Salah Haneya, the Coalition’s General Coordinator and Head of the Consumer Protection Association in Ramallah and Al-Bireh, said: “The launch of the page concurs with the holy month of Ramadan which requires raising the awareness about the quality of the Palestinian products as compared to the products marketed in Palestine, introduction of the Palestinian products, their diversity, and inclusion of non-food products, encourage the purchase of the products from cooperative societies, and encourage the consumers to practice their rights when they spend their money in the market as they should have an influence and a voice in the market.”

Haneya extended thanks to NBC which funded the production of TV spots which aim at promoting the support of the products made in Palestine, being a Palestinian manufacturer, and delivery of the message of the campaign and the page through the radio and TV.

Mahmoud Dawood, member of the Coalition Secretariat and Head of the Consumer Protection Association in Qalqilya said that the Association’s key goal is to support high quality products made in Palestine and sold at competitive prices, which corresponds with the Coalition’s vision. He indicated the importance of drawing on all printed, audio, and visual media outlets to deliver the message that “The Palestinian Product Has Priority” not only because it is made in Palestine, but also because it conforms with the quality standards and global competitive edge”.

On his part, Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of NBC, said that NBC is keen to contribute in the efforts supporting the Palestinian products, contribute to raise the Palestinian consumers’ awareness of their rights, and inform them of the advantages of the national products which should have priority on the consumer’s shopping list.

“NBC’s pursuit to reinforce such campaign reflects its experience since its inception as a part of the national industries sector where NBC stood out in terms of quality, conformity to the environmental standards, and provision of a national product made by Palestinian hands, holder of international quality certificates, and winner of excellence awards in the region”, added Mr. Al-Hindi.

Rania El-Khairy, Secretary of the Consumer Protection Association in Ramallah and Al-Bireh said: “the citizens’ response and reaction to the idea of the campaign and the TV spots encouraged us to expand the base of this activity to spread the awareness among the Palestinian consumers about their rights and the mechanisms of advocating of the campaign, being the ones who spend their money in the market and who should have their voice heard”.
