“INJAZ Palestine” Celebrates the Conclusion of the Student Company Competition with “L&P" Scooping the Award

Ramallah – Under the patronage of Dr. Sabri Saidam, the Minister of Education and Higher Education, INJAZ-Palestine organized the Student Company Competition 2016 aiming at promoting the potentials of school students to establish and manage companies with participation of nine student companies.
L&P Company, represented by Nablus Islamic Secondary School, was selected as Best Company of 2016. L&P produced an educational book for kids. The students were trained by the volunteer Rawan Abu Shmais from Jawwal Palestine.
The winner company will represent Palestine at INJAZ Al-Arab Young Entrepreneurs Competition.
“Glow Candle Company", represented by Salfit Secondary School for Girls, won the award of best community responsibility. The company produced various-shaped ceramics. The students were trained by the volunteer Yousef Al-Amour from Al-Amour Industrial and Trading Company. On the other hand, BINGO Company, represented by Ramallah Islamic Secondary School, won the award of Best Customer Care where the students innovatively designed and produced some old games. They were trained by the volunteer Manar al-Zeitawi from Jawwal Palestine.
“Kids First" from Al-Fatimiya Secondary School for Girls – Nablus won the award of Best Product Idea where it produced medical school bags. The students were trained by the volunteer Ala’ Dwaikat from Novartis Pharma Services Inc.
Bassam Walweel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of INJAZ Palestine, said that Student Company Program contributes to promoting and developing individual and collective skills on which any pilot project is based. This program is carried out through the participation of INJAZ partners from both private and educational sectors where volunteer advisors from the national private companies train the participating students for six months to establish their own companies with all administrative, financial and marketing details using real capital.
Walweel added that without the permanent and continuous support from INJAZ partners and the public sector represented by the Ministry of Education, INJAZ Palestine could not have outreached 180 thousand students in all governorates.
Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy, the Diamond Sponsor of Student Company Competition of 2016, congratulated the participants and the winner students at the Student Company Competition, confirming that the Competition provides the students with a great opportunity for capacity-building and enhancing their skills to be able to make positive change, whether in their own individual lives or at their community level.
Mr. al-Hindi added that the achievements and innovations of students show open minds and honest will to innovation and openness to the external world which surely contributes to promoting the potentials of students’ potentials and their leading role towards better life for the coming generations in Palestine. He assured that NBC is committed to continue cooperation with INJAZ Palestine and the various partners to support students in Palestine and enable them to plan for better future.
In the same context, Samih Subaih, “Al-Quds Bank", said that the bank will always support the activities involved in the scope of community responsibility which makes it one of the most influential economic and financial agencies in this field at the national level. He added that community responsibility is a national obligation and duty practiced by the bank as investment in community development reflects the extent to which community members contribute to raise the standards of living of the Palestinian community and improving the performance of its sectors.
Ms. Randa Ramahi Salameh, the General Manager of INJAZ Palestine, welcomed the key role played by the INJAZ partners from both private and educational sectors through their unlimited contribution to supporting INJAZ which significantly contributes to qualifying the youth to enter the business world, build and improve their capacities.
Salameh also praised the sponsorship and support provided by several national private companies to INJAZ, particularly NBC and Al-Quds Bank, which sponsored the Student Company Competition of 2016, in addition to the distinctive support of the Ministry of Education to INJAZ, which contributed and still contributes to building the future leaders.
Concerning the Panel of Referees for the Competition of this year, the Chairman of the Committee, Jamal Melhem, CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. International, who explained that the Committee assessed the student companies based on a number of criteria, including how the company was established, what idea it has, how such ideas can be transformed into a process, how to attract partners, nature of the product and last distribution and marketing.
The Panel of Referees included: Hanan Taha, General manager of Paltrade; Sadeq Al-Khdour, General Manager of the National Institute for Educational Training, representing the Ministry of Education; Rami Afaneh, Human Resources Manager at NBC; Salam Abu Awwad, Manager of Training Center at Al-Quds Bank, in addition to Jamal Melhem, CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. International.
