Coca-Cola and Cappy are among the best factories in terms of compliance with the Standards of Safety and Health at Work




Ramallah – Al-Hayat Economic – The factories of Coca-Cola Carbonated Soft Drinks and Cappy Juices owned by the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy attained advanced rating as the two facilities excel in complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Systems pursuant to the Palestinian Labor Law No. 7 of 2000, according to a recent assessment by the Ministry of Labor.  Coca-Cola Factory was rated among the top three factories at the level of Ramallah.

 Cappy Juices Factory gained the title of the best factory in Tulkarm.  The management of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola / Cappy was honored during the ceremony of the Ministry of Labor on the occasion of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which was organized under the patronage of the President Mahmoud Abbas in Hebron.

Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) confirmed that such achievements represent a mirror reflecting NBC’s full compliance with the Palestinian and International standards and the specifications for the Occupational Safety and Health. He explained that, "NBC is keen to apply the Palestinian standards and regulations for Safety and Health at Work, and is also committed to the effective management processes in manufacturing and production by applying the most safe and secure methods for the health of the consumers, labor and for the product quality at the same time. NBC is working on adopting pro-environment methods during the manufacturing process by using energy saving mechanisms through the use of monitoring and control systems that are dedicated for this purpose.”

On the used public safety systems in the Company, Mr. al-Hindi explained that: "We periodically ensure the provision of collective means of protection for the workers at the facility and the provision of fire extinguishers and alarms to detect smoke or gas leaks. We conduct periodic medical examinations for the workers, in addition to forcing workers to put on the personal protection means, in addition to organizing periodical training and educational courses for the members of the supervisory Safety Committee and for the workers. The Company also conducts self-inspection and prepares the necessary reports on Occupational Safety and Health Systems."

Mr. al-Hindi added, "What NBC has achieved during the last years including quality and environment certificates and safety of the product demonstrates NBC's extent of compliance with the international standards, which means that we are on the right track towards establishing a strong economy based on high-quality local industries and on proper scientific basics that are made by Palestinian hands and enhances the confidence of the Palestinian consumer in the national industry."

Mr. al-Hindi prides himself for such achievements, being the fruit of the NBC’s continued hard work and commitment to product safety and to provide a safe and healthy work environment. Mr. al-Hindi also praised the role of the staff of the National Beverage Company and their compliance with occupational safety and health standards, and said, "We present this achievement to the NBC employees who have demonstrated their endeavor to provide high-quality Palestinian product, and maintain a healthy and safe work environment pursuant to the Palestinian regulations and international standards, as this achievement concurs with the International Workers' Day. The Company expresses its sincere thanks and appreciation to its personnel in particular, and to the labor in Palestine in general, and we hope to realize more achievements in the coming years at various levels."
