Building libraries for children at Palestinian hospitals

NBC pays special attention to children -- particularly children with special needs. One way we have demonstrated our care for children has been by setting up libraries at hospitals across Palestine. NBC opened the first library of its kind for children at the Government Hospital in Ramallah, in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the hospital. The second library was opened in Jenin in cooperation with the Governmental Hospital of Jenin. Additional libraries have been opened at the following hospitals: Mohammad Al-Dura Hospital in Jabalia, Gaza Strip Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza Strip Beit-Jala Governmental Hospital in Bethlehem The Childcare Association in Ramallah Governmental Hospital in Hebron Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah Darwish Nazzal Hospital in Qalqilya, Dr. Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital in Tulkarm, Al Shefa Medical Complex in Gaza The results of this project have spectacular. The libraries have created havens which help children at the hospitals to cope with loneliness and with the unpleasant treatments they may have to endure. In addition, the libraries represent an investment in developing the capabilities of the children who use them.
