Ramallah Municipality and the National Beverage Company announce the winners of an Environmental Awareness Competition




RamallahAlayyam: Ramallah Municipality has recently announced the winners of the “My City is Healthy and Eco-Friendly under Corona Pandemic" Competition.  The announcement came during a ceremony with the participation of Mr. Mousa Hadid, the Mayor, and Imad Al Hindi, General Manager of the National Beverage Company and Al-Tayf Dairy & Food Products Company (Candia) – the Prize Sponsor.

The prizes were distributed to the winning students in the Competition as announced by the Ramallah Municipality at the beginning of 2021, whereby the students were invited to tape a short video for an environmental initiative of their creation and implementation in their surroundings at home, in the street or at school.

Mr. Hadid expressed his appreciation to all the students who submitted their works for the Competition, especially the winners. He confirmed that Ramallah Municipality aims to raise environmental and health awareness among the younger generations through its Environmental Awareness Programs.

He said that such activities have been developed in line with the COVID-19 Safety Measures during the school year.  He also thanked the National Beverage Company for its permanent support for environmental awareness projects and its partnership with the Municipality in raising environmental awareness through their support for “My City is Healthy and Eco-Friendly” competition program and the environmental electronic competition.

On his part, Mr. al-Hindi stressed the importance of school environmental awareness projects implemented by Ramallah Municipality with all partners, with the objective of achieving a clean and healthy environment in the Governorate.

Mr. al-Hindi pointed out that “NBC’s contribution and support to such vital projects are in line with the Company's belief in the importance of maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the people of our society, as well as a reflection of our commitment to international standards in implementing regulations related to environmental safety”. He also expressed his pride in the creative ideas implemented by the students in the context of environment protection and preservation during the Corona Pandemic.

He confirmed that the National Beverages Company will never hesitate to support such creative initiatives in partnership with Ramallah Municipality.  He commended the great efforts of the Municipality to ensure the success of environmental awareness projects despite the difficult circumstances we are all going through, including the proliferation of the Corona Pandemic. The Municipality contributes to the instilling of proper concepts in the young generations and enabling them to preserve the environment and avoid depleting its resources.

On his part, Head of the Health and Environment Committee, Municipal Council Member, Kamal Shamshoum, said that through the films presented by the students, we can say that there is a seed of environmental awareness in their schools. We, as institutions, families and all sectors, have to nurture such seed in order to grow and increase awareness throughout the city.

The Competition, for which 150 short videos were submitted from all schools in Ramallah, the following students have won: Tariq Jabbar, for his film “Waste Collection from Ein Qiniya”; Gabi El-Dalou, for his film “Cultivation in Car Tires”; Hala Abdel Al-Halim, for her film “Re-use”; Salem Nasr Shaheen, for his film “The Recycling and Cultivation of Guar”; Saba Anjas, for her film “Plastic Recycling and Cultivation of Mint”; Raymin Karama, for her film “Compost”; and Katrina and Tawfiq Raji Tawfiq Shbeita for their film entitled “Our most important duty is to preserve the environment, especially at the time of Corona.”
