National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy Grants Donations to Women Activity Association in Aqabat Jabr Camp




Jericho- Al Hayat Economic- The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) granted donations to the Women Activity Association in Aqabat Jabr Camp in the city of Jericho. The donations included furniture and fittings for the Association's Department of Cosmetology Training. This donation is aimed to economically empower women and girls of the camp, and to facilitate their acquirement of vocational and professional skills.
 
Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of NBC, emphasized that the donation to the Women Activity Association in Aqabat Jabr camp came within the framework of the Company's assistance to the supporting projects that aim at economically empower women in marginalized areas. Through the outfitting of the Department of Cosmetology Training, the Company seeks to empower women in the camp and surrounding areas, refine their various skills in order to enhance the living standards of their families, and to provide greater opportunities for them to engage in the labor market, thus providing a supportive source of income.
 
"Together with the support of women in the health, education and sport sectors, we are aware that Palestinian women have distinct skills and capabilities that we should take care of and develop, especially housewives and girls who have been unable to complete their university studies", added Mr. al-Hindi.
 
He also stressed the need for private sector companies to raise the proportion of employed women in Palestinian society which will contribute to the increase of economic growth in the Palestinian economy; he also pointed that Palestinian women are no longer a traditional partner in the family, but rather they managed, through their perseverance in education and training, to play an effective and active role in many businesses and sectors, they have also managed to undertake the highest positions, and to prove their real and tangible role in family and society's income growth.
 
On her part, the Chairperson of the Administrative Board of the Association, Ms. Intisar Al Akhras, expressed her thanks and gratitude to the Company's management for the generous and valuable support to help the women in Aqabat Jabr camp, giving a brilliant glow to the Association, particularly to the Department of Cosmetology Training which was forced to suspend the training courses due to lack of supplies and tools; "The company's donation came to revive and renovate the Cosmetology Center so that the Center has managed to re-accommodate more than 15 trainees, the majority of which are of special  social cases", she added.
 
Ms. Al Akhras also pointed that the Women Activity Association is an UNRWA- women charity association approved by the Ministry of Social Affairs to offer services to various segments of the local community in general, and particularly to children and women, and has 150 members of girls and women from Aqabat Jabr camp. She  asserted that NBC's initiative serves as an incentive to the Association's management to apply for a license for Cosmetology Department from the Ministry of Labor so that the trainees shall be granted accredited certificates qualifying
