Sponsored by National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy, Ahmad Khuffash, Palestinian Jiu-Jitsu Champion, completes a Training Camp in Brazil
Ramallah- The PalestinianJiu-Jitsu Champion Ahmad Khuffash completed his participation in the training camp in Brazil, which was sponsored by the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC). In addition to the training camp, Khuffash won a bronze medal in the International Jiu-Jitsu Championship held in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, continuing his preparations to participate in the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship scheduled to be held on 14-22 April 2017 as he was qualified for the championship for the first time.
Regarding the training camp which he joined along with his Jordanian coach Zaid Granduke, Khuffash said that he has participated in the exercises and daily training classes held in Checkmate Club of Rio de Janeiro which enabled him to train on combat against world-class Jiu-Jitsu fighters. He also met professional coaches with over 25 years of experience and hold special secrets about the Jiu-Jitsu tactics, techniques and adjustment of the body movements.
Khuffash added that although it was hard to adjust with the weather in Rio due to the high temperature and humidity, he managed to complete the training camp and win the third place in the international championship which was organized by the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation with the participation of 800 players.
“I cannot claim that I am completely ready for the world championship as I need further training and to recall the extensive information I learned in Rio about the new techniques and play tactics. However, I can say that I acquired intensive experience that would not have been possible if I did not go to Brazil where the Jiu-Jitsu started hundreds of years ago, and where the Jiu-Jitsu players hold experiences and underlying secrets of this sport. Further, I learned the errors that can be made by the Jiu-Jitsu fighter”, added Khuffash.
Khuffash commended the outstanding and convenient treatment by NBC Management and personnel that covered the expenses of his journey with his coach to participate in the training camp in Brazil in addition to the accommodation expenses, fees of participation in the sports clubs and the international championship in Brazil, plus the personal expenses spent during their 38-day trip.
He noted that it would not have been possible for him to take part in the training without the sponsorship made by NBC. He explained that the costs of training camps held abroad, especially in Brazil, are expensive and a player cannot participate without sponsorship and support.
Khuffash is set to leave to the Jordanian capital of Amman in line with his training program in preparation for the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship to complete the Jiu-Jitsu and Crossfit combat training which help maintaining the player in a good physical shape using the techniques and skills acquired in Brazil camp.
Khuffash said he is so excited to participate in Abu Dhabi World Championship representing Palestine and to meet the champions of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu team which have high competencies and excellence experience.
Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of NBC, wished Khuffash success in the next championship in Abu Dhabi, hoping that he will add new achievements and records in the Jiu-Jitsu in the name of Palestine. He also wished that Khuffash becomes the best representative of his country.
Mr. al-Hindi confirmed that NBC Management is proud of the Palestinian athlete Khuffash and his performance in various championships, the last of which was the Brazil Championship where he won the bronze medal, demonstrated excellent performance in the training camp, and acquired information and experience that qualify him to fiercely compete with the international players.
Mr. al-Hindi emphasized NBC’s commitment to support the Palestinian sports in general and the Palestinian athletes in particular as the male, female, and junior athletes established their ability to overcome the difficulties and take on the diverse sports and real competition regionally and internationally.
Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Championship will be held on 16 arenas with the participation of 6000 international Jiu-Jitsu fighters. The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation will cover the costs of travel and accommodation for Khuffash because he won the golden medal for the open weight category in the Jordan National Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship and the bronze medal under 94 kg category in the West Asia Jiu-Jitsu Championship which was held last year in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
