National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy concludes Back to School Campaign and distributes 5000 school bags




Ramallah- Alhayat Economic – As part of its annual Back to School Campaign, the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) has completed the distribution of over 5000 school bags to the less-privileged students in the schools of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.  This included 3000 bags to the schools of the Education Directorate in the West Bank, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and more than 2000 bags over several institutions and association caring for children, especially cancer patients, in cooperation with Smile of Hope to Care for Cancer Patients in Gaza.

Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy, stated: “Every year, through Back to School Campaign, NBC is committed to assert the importance of education in its development and annual projects and programs, in order to contribute to making a positive change in the education sector and encourage the less-privileged students such as the orphans, children of the less fortunate families and sick children to continue their academic path and challenge the difficult conditions that may prevent them from progressing and achieving their ambitions”.

Mr. al-Hindi pointed out that Back to School Campaign is the fruit of the continuous partnership with the Ministry of Education and Smile of Hope to Care for Cancer Patients. “Every year we complete the distributing of school bags to students, and we have become more determined to continue the campaign and to intensify our efforts to support the less-privileged children in order to contribute to drawing a smile on the faces of the children who were on the verge of losing the opportunity to complete education due to a chronic disease or challenging financial conditions, out of our faith that education is a basic children's right and education is a fundamental tool to achieve prosperity and progress of any nation in the world”, added Mr. al-Hindi.

Mr. al-Hindi confirmed that NBC is keen to intensify its efforts in the Gaza Strip out of its national duty and moral and social responsibility towards our children in Gaza. He indicated that NBC, through its programs, initiatives and campaigns, is looking forward to provide an effective contribution to relieve children with special needs, orphan children and patients in Gaza and to give them a moral push ahead, especially under the continuous siege they live under, which may undermine their morals.

On his part, Eng. Jehad Draidi, Director of International and Public Relations at the Ministry of Higher Education, commended NBC’s commitment toward education for the ninth year in a row, whereas it organized and focused its efforts to support the Education Directorates and it contributed to the continuity of education path by providing school bags to the neediest students in the remote areas located in the West Bank. He also commended NBC’s pursuit, as part of the social responsibility it seeks to adopt in the right way, to maintain its initiative in the areas of education and culture, whether in the beginning or end of the school year, by providing in-kind and financial support which attains achievements and developments in the educational sector in order to facilitate the education process to both the teacher and student.

“Our educational objective has been united with NBC’s vision about education. In the Ministry of Education, we diligently work to develop the educational process in the schools, in line with our patriotic responsibility toward the Palestinian people, and out of NBC’s role and social responsibility, it supports our efforts and contributes to their success”, noted Draidi.

"Our sustainable relationship with NBC produced many programs and initiatives that made a positive impact on our students and the education sector in general. NBC is distinguished with its commitment toward this group and such sector. Education is the right of every person despite the economic or social conditions which may prevent the child from practicing such right", added Draidi.

On his part, Sami Al-Jojo, General Coordinator at Smile of Hope to Care for Cancer Patients in Gaza, valued NBC's continuous efforts and dedication to support the sick and orphan students as well as children of the needy families, and NBC's contribution to ensure they continue their education path notwithstanding the challenging conditions they go through. Al-Jojo said he hopes such efforts continue in cooperation with Smile of Hope to Care for Cancer Patients which distributed the bags, based on the social priorities of students and the neediest groups, on several societies and institutions which care for orphan children, children with special needs, and cancer patients.  He appealed to various concerned bodies to intensify their efforts to support the less-fortunate students and encourage them to develop themselves through education and knowledge.
