For the third year in a row, National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy wins Coca-Cola Middle East Golden Award 2015




Ramallah – Al Hayat Economic - For the third year in a row, the plant of the National Beverage Company Coca­-Cola/Cappy (NBC) in Ramallah won the Coca-Cola Middle East Golden Award for 2015 as the best plant at the level of Coca-Cola Global factories in the Middle East and Gulf Cooperation Council region.
 
Coca-Cola plant in Palestine has recorded the highest score according to the evaluation of product quality, and rationalization of power and water. The evaluation was supervised by a special committee that included specialists from Coca-Cola International and international experts. The plant evaluation criteria are divided in terms of the product quality, packing quality and compatibility with the quality standards of Coca-Cola as well as the international standards (ISO) related to product quality and safety, measured by 50%, and to what extent the plant applies environment protection systems, preserve environment resources, and adopt power and water saving systems, measured by 50%.
 
Mr. Zahi Khouri, Chairman of NBC, announced that he was proud and pleased with Coca-Cola plant in Ramallah winning the Coca-Cola Middle East Golden Award for the third year in a row.  He extended thanks to NBC staff and management for their excellent performance and adherence to NBC standards and principles to provide a product that makes the Palestinian citizen proud. He asserted that the Award demonstrated the responsible investment model presented by NBC in the region.
 
Mr. Khouri added: "this achievement is attained today while we look forward to present our products to our people in Gaza Strip and contribute to revive Gaza economy as NBC is getting ready to open its plant in Gaza, which will produce Coca-Cola products in the first phase".
 
He confirmed that NBC will contribute to supporting charity and social projects in Gaza Strip to help our people face the overwhelming conditions, especially the marginalized groups and people with special needs.
On his part, Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of NBC, congratulated NBC staff for such achievement and commended their dedication and devotion at work, which qualified Coca-Cola Palestine plant to assume advanced positions at the regional level.  He also thanked the Palestinian consumers who have confidence in NBC’s products seeking finest taste.
 
Mr. al-Hindi pointed out: "NBC has set the provision of fine quality as its slogan; therefore, it maintains the quality standards in the different production and packing stages to deliver the best national product. Moreover, compliance with the latest systems in environment preservation, power and water rationalization are place on top of its priorities. He added that NBC is keen to develop its people competencies to complete the elements of successful investment in Palestine".
 
Mr. al-Hindi noted that beside keenness to ensure excellence in quality and environment protection, NBC believes in the importance of its role in supporting the development and social projects to contribute to sustainable development and support the groups of the society, especially, in the areas of education, health, environment, youth, and sports.
 
At the national level, NBC was honored by President His Excellency Mahmoud Abbas last year during the proceedings of the First National Forum for Innovators in Palestine in appreciation of NBC excellence work in power and water consumption rationalization and preservation of the environment and natural resources in all phases of manufacturing and production in NBC plants.
 
NBC received the Coca-Cola Middle East Golden Award for 2013 and 2014 and it received many awards during the past years. NBC ranked the second position in the Group President Sustainability award at the level of the bottling companies affiliated to Coca-Cola in Eurasia and Africa Group for 2014. It also ranked the first position in the competitions of the same award for 2011 and 2013.
 
Moreover, NBC received the social empowerment award for 2013 and Coca-Cola Ramallah plant was selected as the best factory adopting the environmental systems for 2011.
 
NBC ranked first in sales and marketing at the level of Coca-Cola companies in the Middle East and it was selected among the best top 10 bottling companies affiliated to Coca-Cola International and in power saving as well as in reducing the carbon which pollutes the environment.
