The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy and the Ministry of Education conclude the eighth stage of Schools Computerization Project




Ramallah – Al-Hayat Economic – The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the conclusion of the eighth stage of the Annual School Computerization Project, Lana Al-Ghad, which has been regularly taking place since 2007.  30 computer labs have been equipped with advanced computers and 6 schools were supplied with tablet PCs.
 
The announcement was made during a meeting held recently at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Ramallah, and attended by Dr. Basri Saleh, Assistant Undersecretary of Planning and Development in the Ministry and Imad al-Hindi, NBC General Manager, in addition to a number of directors from the Ministry and officials of the Company.
 
 It was also announced that more than 150 tablets were distributed during the eighth stage to three schools in the Directorates of Ramallah, Albireh, Qabatiya and Hebron.  The Lana Al-Ghad  Project aims to provide and equip schools of the most needy remote areas with tablet PCs in order to develop the educational process so as to serve both the students and the teachers by developing the curriculum and diversifying the learning and teaching methods through advanced and interesting means.  

 

Dr. Saleh commended NBC’s role and contribution in supporting the education development process in public schools.  He presented an honorary trophy shield to Mr. al-Hindi in appreciation of the efforts made by NBC over years and as a demonstration of the effective and unique partnership between the Ministry and the Company.  
 
Mr. Imad al-Hindi was also handed an official letter from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to honor the Company. Dr. Saleh said, “The NBC’s commitment to support the Lana Al Ghad Project since eight years has significantly contributed to the development teaching methods and has generally helped the educational process.
 
 We appreciate the Company’s commitment to this partnership as we believe in the importance of working in integrated partnerships with the private sector and the various sectors for education development in Palestine.  Mr. Saleh emphasized the importance of participation by the private sector and other sector in support of the Palestinian education due to the challenges the education sector is experiencing.  He confirmed that a sustained partnership with the private sector would accomplish positive change to enhance the education sector in Palestine on the long run.  
 
He pointed out in this regard the high priority given by the Ministry for the implementation of technology in teaching and the dissemination of pioneering experiences, especially in light of the current developments taking place in the current world. Mr. Imad al-Hindi reiterated that the Company was committed towards supporting the education sector, especially in light of the tough economic and social circumstances that the Palestinian society and institution are going through.
 
 He added, “We are today concluding another stage of The Lana Al-Ghad Project, as we have accumulated considerable experience and our horizon has expanded in our perspective towards the needs of our students who form the pillars for building our country’s various sectors.  Therefore NBC will continue its support to this sector both through Lana Al-Ghad Project and other projects through which we endeavor to support the education process”.  Mr. al-Hindi expressed his pride in the ongoing partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and said: “In NBC, as a company of the Palestinian private sector, we believe in our supplementary role to the Ministry’s role in building a robust educational sector and in preparing a well-informed generation equipped with all empowering means that make them capable of building and developing their country”.
