National Beverage Company Coca-Coal/Cappy Opens a Children Library in Dr. Thabet Thabet Government Hospital

Tulkarem - Al Hayat Al Eqtisadia - The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy (NBC) opened a children library in Dr. Thabet Thabet Government Hospital in Tulkarem. The opening ceremony was attended by the NBC General Manager, Mr. Imad al Hindi and the Director General of the Hospital, Dr. Husam Al Tunaib, in addition to all administrative staff, heads of medical and nursing departments as well as a group of managers and employees of the NBC and local mass media representatives.

After the inauguration ceremony, the General Manager  and representative of NBC accompanied by the Hospital Director General toured the Hospital where they visited the children ward and give away presents and toys to sick kids wishing them God’s blessing with quick cure.

Dr. Thabet Thabet Hospital’s children library is one of ten libraries that NBC has already established within an initiative that NBC launched earlier. The initiative aimed at furnishing libraries for children inside a number of government hospitals as well as childhood centers across the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

This goes with the context of the Company's support to the Medical Sector in Palestine, assisting doctors' efforts in treating sick children by alleviating their pains, creating relaxing atmosphere for children intended to achieve better and more effective response to the treatment prescribed to them and utilize their free time to develop their daily life skills and capabilities focusing on anything that might lend them a helping hand to stand strong against their illness.

NBC has furnished the library with the necessary distinct furniture tailored for children. The Company also supplied the library with story and science books, educational and fun games as well as a T.V set and D.V.D player. The library is characterized by its drawings, pictures and bright colors that stimulate joy and pleasure. On the other hand, the library contains seats and tables that suit children in terms of size, type and quality and comply with international health, environment and public safety standards.

The first library opened by NBC was in Ramallah Government Hospital to be the first one of its kind. Over the past years, a series of ten libraries in different government hospitals and childhood centers were opened : two in Gaza, one in Beit Jala, another in Jenin, two in Ramallah, and one library in Jerusalem, Hebron and Qalkilya. The NBC furnished all these libraries with novel books and stories that motivate reading, learning and entertaining.

NBC General Manger confirmed that his Company was keen to provide support and assistance to all society segments. He added that: "NBC does realize the importance of in-kind assistance that the sick and lonely children always need. Therefore, NBC shoulders their responsibility and assumes the role of providing such support by building partnerships with all concerned government departments and private organizations".

Mr. al Hindi commended the role of the Ministry of Health in supporting this project and expressed his pride in the fruitful partnership with the Ministry. He also appreciated the cooperation and efforts made by hospital staff including doctors, nurses and all staff who care for the sick children, whether physically or spiritually.

Mr. al Hindi pointed out that NBC has focused on sustainable development for all Palestinians sectors and segments particularly the Youth and children, confirming that NBC believes in their significant contribution to the support given to different society organizations, which help them confront challenges, move ahead and succeed.  Moreover, he mentioned that: "NBC is committed to giving help to sick children as they are no more practicing their daily life activities and they are taken away from their social, recreational and educational life.  Hence, establishing such a library for them, in cooperation with concerned parties is consistence with NBC objectives to alleviate their suffering and pain".

On his part, Dr. Husam Al Tunaib expressed his appreciation for NBC’s generous grant to the Hospital, which proves key and important role of the NBC in building, developing and supporting the Palestinian society and the responsibility it assumes towards all sectors, especially the health sector.  He added that: "There is no doubt that such library would influence children positively as it is considered part of the psychotherapy that supports and supplements the physical treatment enabling the children to response to treatment and get will sooner. The library is also intended to provide the children with hope and assurance as they would build confidence in their attending doctors, which significantly contribute to the treatment efficacy".

On his behalf as well as on behalf of the staff working in the Pediatric Department, Dr. Al Tunaib extended his profound thanks to NBC for their constant support to the country.  In addition, he appreciated the interest of the Company to achieve sustainable development and improve performance, particularly of the medical sector. He hoped that this cooperated project between the two parties will be the first step for further cooperation in the future.
